Claims and Appeals

In 2000 Title I of ERISA established new procedures, notifications and disclosure requirements for claims and appeals. It also clarified and updated existing claims and appeals procedure requirements for all ERISA welfare and pension plans. This required many plans to update their claims and appeals language and implement policies and procedures to ensure that claims and appeals were processed in a timely fashion.

ABPA has established policies and procedures to assist our clients to comply, not only with ERISA requirements, but also with our clients’ unique procedures. In addition, ABPA has various metrics in place that contain shorter processing timeframes that we strive to achieve on an ongoing basis. Our letters, notices and EOB forms are designed to ensure compliance with the notification and disclosure requirements.
